"TikTok 'cores' are often just cute names for various aesthetic styles — they are not driven by cultural shifts, don’t influence changes in consumer behavior, and lack any significant market impact."
Thank you for sharing your story. It really resonated with me, especially your commentary on the healthcare system, taking time to reset after layoff and value of attracting rather than chasing opportunities.
👏 Hard identify with not being able to think straight after a restructure away from a dream job, the anxiety of being a caregiver in America and launching a Substack to forge a new path. Power to you Anu and excited to read the stack!
I'm obsessed with this story! As a fashion trend forecaster from New Orleans I was like an alien in my city of festivities! I went across the pond an did an self-funded internship with Geraldine Wharry after she left WGSN and started Trend Atelier... I always wanted to be a Trend Spotter! haha Thank you for sharing your story and I would love to connect, collaborate or a cocktail in NYC!! #trendforecastormeetup @whatsanu @ANU
Great interview. This was super relatable! And I had the same issue with not backing up my work and files. I was too pissed off during the layoff process to care but I wish I had done a better job of it.
One of my favorite pieces yet! As someone who was laid off and managed to land a gig as a strategist after, I love love love Anu's perspective and can't wait to read her newsletter :)
Laid off Nordstrom employee solidarity Anu! My last day was Friday, not as messy as your experience but I know all about Nord’s proclivity for sloppiness in these situations.
Excellent read!
Thank you to you! And Anu for sharing
Great interview. I like Anu perspective about her job and how her job has changed culturally the past decade.
Amazing article!

I feel you Anu! Fellow strategist who also got laid off from a dream job last year. Excited to read your Substack!
Thanks so much! The Laid Off community has been amazing to see that we’re not alone in these experiences 🫶

I'd love to talk to you guys about my laid off story! What's the best way to get in touch? I wrote a bit about how my layoff rocked my world and changed my life in this piece: https://annaseirian.substack.com/p/healing-my-inner-girlboss
