I was in a similar position earlier this year (laid off, mid-40s, remote, overqualified) and I would love to hear more about how Kathy dumbed down her resume.

Clare, apologies - I just saw this. I removed a lot of jobs on my resume so it was harder to tell how old I was. I took out any awards and recognitions I received and slightly changed job titles.

It no longer matters if you try to hide your age on a resume. I get contacted by recruiters weekly as I have a solid base of in-demand skills for media and market research, especially for big tech brands. However it only takes the hiring manager about 10 minutes to Google me and find my exact age. If you have any kind of social media or web footprint, they will find your age in a heartbeat and if it is 50+ then it's time for them to ghost you. It's very hard to beat the ageism battle, particularly in this tough job market where there are 100+ applicants for every opening. Very hard to stay positive.
