I'm SO THANKFUL to have discovered this Substack. As someone who has been laid off / let go / contract terminated, etc etc etc several times over the past six years, I really relate to all of these stories.
It took me a very long time to realize the industry I worked in (social media marketing) was particularly volatile and it wasn't a fault of my own. My last gig even told me I was "invaluable" and they wouldn't be where they were now without me... but they were "restructuring". That's when it all clicked. It's the industry, and the way most of us working in it, even when we are delivering incredible results, are perceived as disposable 🙃
