You're Invited: Laid Off Pen Pals!

When I was laid off last year, I had a group chat with a few former coworkers. In the months post-layoff, it was where we shared jobs with each other, vented, and hyped each other up when rejections piled up and we felt like shit.

I’m grateful for that space, but I know not everyone has access to laid off group chats or friends going through the same thing. I surveyed more than 700 people who have been laid off — 56% never shared the news publicly and 51% didn’t have a group chat with former coworkers.

When I started this newsletter, the community aspect was really important to me. I don’t want this to just be a one-way thing. So I’m launching something new: Laid Off Pen Pals!

Laid Off Pen Pals will be connected over email and sent weekly prompts to get to know each other and carve out time each week to find a moment of joy and connection.

It’ll be an opportunity for community, networking, a weekly escape from the job hunting grind, a space to hype each other up, and maybe even to make a new friend.
