A few weeks ago, some cuties from the Laid Off Discord met up in Fort Greene Park to model the now shoppable Laid Off hats.
Nearly every person in these photos has been laid off — including photographer Rona Akbari, who I first interviewed for the newsletter earlier this year. She killed it.
I’ve been wanting to make Laid Off hats for a minute. Not just because they’re cool (they are), but because getting laid off shouldn’t be something you have to hide. It happens. It happened to me. It’s happened to a lot of my friends, and a lot of you.
Laid Off hats are for walking into a coffeeshop to apply for jobs. For LinkedIn photos with a little bite. For first dates, second interviews, hot sweaty summer happy hours, and eating oranges in the park with a friend who just got let go.
And they look cool as hell.

You are a queen. A GODDESS!!! What a marvel to have created this community!!!!!
Love to you & ALL of us (the poster children. The canaries in this coal mine that is 2023-2025 😵💫😵💫🙄
Absolutely brilliant!
